Sustainable construction for SMEs

BioRegional ZeroWISE

New support and training from the ZeroWISE Sustainable Construction project is being offered to construction, demolition, design and waste management SME’s based in south-east England.

A joint project, it’s being delivered by environmental charity BioRegional and other partners, and coordinated by Remade South East.

Ben Gill, a BioRegional sustainability consultant, says : “Over 2011 the ZeroWISE partners will help SMEs to gain business benefits from sustainable construction. This is the direction the industry is moving in so companies need to get on board with reducing construction waste and developing reuse services if they are going to stay ahead of the game – we can help them do just that for free – this is a great offer”

Support includes:

  • Training and support on reclamation led pre-demolition – participants will discover the benefits of this approach and how to conduct their own audit on a one day training course
  • Support for existing or new start-up SMEs looking to get into the business of reuse; help with business planning, financing, marketing and attracting new business
  • Site Waste Management Plan training to secure sustainable end markets for waste materials and save money on landfill bills
  • and much more.

This ZeroWISE Sustainable Construction Project has been part funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) as part of the South East ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-13.

It’s good to know that this kind of in-depth project exists. It needs to be available nationwide – not just in the south-east!
