Is this the ultimate water-saving sink?

A very contemporary hand basin

If you are planning a new bathroom and, as we all should be in this day and age, you are keen to minimise the amount of water you consume, then there is a new contemporary hand basin on the market. It probably uses as much water as three egg cups, but if you are on a water meter (and we all will be in ten years time) then this very unusual wedge-shaped water container will be just up your street.

Kirk stone make it, a company probably better known for its extensive range of attractive flooring and wall tiles. It has used its 60 years of experience in quarrying and stone to create "a stunning new range of contemporary bathroom furniture" including another deeper hand basin that Wilma Flintstone would really have appreciated, and she might also have taken a shine to the shower tray that completes the ensemble.

This collection of new products is produced in a variety of natural stones from the company's quarries that include rich dark green volcanic slates through to warm greys and cool beige limestone.

There are, in fact, three basin designs and two shower trays. All are easy to maintain due to the "superior stone selection" and the tough specially adapted chemical seal applied. So the only attention required is a frequent wipe with a damp cloth and a mild non-abrasive cleaner.

As you would expect, the all basins and shower trays, can be matched with natural material wall and floor tiles as well as mosaics and specially cut-to-size vanity units, bath surrounds and bespoke shelving.

But it ain't cheap to save water by this method because retail prices go from £299 for the basins and shower tray.
