Could EU conventional light bulb ban have health implications?

Electrical sensitivity symptoms may rise?

Wireless-Protection.org warns that the upcoming ban of incandescent light bulbs will see a significant rise in the number of people suffering from symptoms of electrical sensitivity, such as recurrent headaches, migraines, depression, disturbed sleep, stress and skin problems.

The warning comes ahead of the EU-wide ban from September 1st on the manufacture or importing of opaque incandescent bulbs and clear 100W light bulbs, with all remaining varieties being banned by 2012. This will force consumers to fit energy-saving bulbs and, as a result, increase the amount of dirty electricity emitted into living environments.

Micro-surges of mid- and high-frequency electromagnetic (EM) radiation are created by the way low-energy compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and other common household appliances (computers, TVs, cordless phones) interrupt the electrical wave powering them, creating radio frequency noise or dirty electricity.

This travels on and radiates from the electrical installation wiring, and is closely linked to electrical sensitivity, which can produce a range of symptoms that cause problems for an ever-increasing number of people.

Dr Magda Havas, associate rrofessor of Environmental and Resource Studies at Trent University, Canada and a specialist in EM pollution believes that CFLs can cause high levels of dirty electricity to be produced. She says: Unfortunately most of the CFL bulbs on the market will cause high levels of dirty electricity which make many sensitive people sick.

However a new range of plug-in dirty electricity filters has been launched by Wireless-Protection.org to reduce or remove the symptoms of electrical sensitivity associated with energy-saving light bulbs and other electrical household appliances.

The filters, which can be used in homes or in the workplace, drastically reduce the EM noise produced by the low-energy CFLs and common household appliances.

Glynn Hughes, Wireless-Protection.org founder, says: Low-energy CFL bulbs are a major source of dirty electricity and banning the use of traditional incandescent bulbs will substantially increase the amount of dirty electricity people are exposed to in their everyday lives. Many experts in dermatology and neurology have reported sharp increases in patients reporting symptoms such as rashes, stinging sensations and migraines that coincide with wider use of CFL bulbs
