Designed for
maximum exposure
Visitors to the WaterAid website
will notice a number of exciting changes
thanks to a redesign marks the charity's
25th.
The homepages have been redesigned
to give maximum exposure to appeals
and campaigns as well as the research
and learning taking place in WaterAid's
15 country programmes. Navigation
has been enhanced to make it easier
for users to find what they want.
A new Events section has been created,
linking in to an events fundraising
micro site where supporters can easily
build their own online sponsorship
page to raise money for any event
in which they are participating.
Vincent Casey, WaterAid's internet
manager, says: "Building on the
strengths of the old website we have
made a number of alterations to the
look and feel of the pages as well
as their technical configuration.
We hope these changes will make for
a satisfying user experience and allow
people to view the full breadth of
information on our organisation."
The WaterAid network consists of
an international site, which acts
as a portal to the United Kingdom,
United States, Australia, Ghana, Nigeria,
Ethiopia and Mali websites. Clear
branding inserted into the top banners
of each of these sites fully informs
the user where they are on the network.
The platform has capacity for further
country sites to be constructed by
the country programmes.
"It is important that we achieve
optimal rankings in search engines
such as Google and Yahoo so our templates
have been coded in a search engine
friendly manner. We would like to
encourage people to stay in touch
with us and informed about our work
so we have made it easy to sign up
to our various electronic newsletters."
Concluded Casey.
