Wood burning seminar at BedZED eco village

This month (September) sustainability specialists BioRegional are hosting a seminar to highlight the potential for wood heating. Biomass could be the answer to meeting London government’s requirement for developments to provide at least 10% of energy from on-site renewables to help tackle climate change1.

Biomass heating might conjure up images of cosy log fires in a country pub but in fact modern systems offer a highly refined set of technologies to deliver cost-effective heating from the domestic scale right up to large district heating systems.

Stewart Boyle from Wood Energy who will be speaking at the seminar, says:
“With oil and gas prices increasing rapidly, the time for modern wood energy is now. With planning policies in the London area now encouraging renewable energy there hasn’t been a better time to invest in modern wood heating.”

The half-day seminar takes place next Tuesday 6 September at the UK’s largest eco-village BedZED in south London. The course will benefit housing developers, consultants, local authorities and those providing information on renewable energy.

The seminar is supported by the ODPM, Carbon Trust, Shanks First Fund, Norlands Foundation, Scottish Power Green Energy Trust and Croydon Council.
